Sickle Cell Anemia disease occurs when two carriers of sickle red blood cells individuals marry each other ie AS x AS. 

A chance of giving birth to Sickle Cell SS individuals is real. To avert this into extinction, we need to educate ourselves on the need for individuals to their blood genotype even before marriage to the compatibility of their coming together genetically and to know the expected genotype of their offsprings in future.

 There are Six types of Genotypes accross the globe. An individual must fall into any of the six they are AA, AS, SS, AC, SC and CC.

Individuals with AA can marry any from other Genotypes, but individuals with SS  Genotype can marry the following SS, AS, SC, or CC individual because possibility of given birth to SS individuals is very high likewise individuals with CC Genotypes can not marry to SS, AC, SC,  and CC individual because there is high chance of giving birth to SC, CC individuals which is the mild form of SS. Individuals with SS Genotypes face a lot of severe health challenges and complications.
