Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Paul Pogba is "desperate to make up for lost time" after he made an inspiring return to help United secure a draw at the New Tottenham Stadium.

The 27 year-old Pogba was making his first appearance for United since he suffered an ankle injury in December 2019.

The French world cup winner who came off the bench for Fred, won a penalty which was converted by Bruno Fernandes to help United secure a 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

"Paul Pogba is a fantastic player and is finally fit again," Solskjaer said.

The former Juventus midfielder was on for 34 minutes and completed 17 of his 18 passes, with two blocks and won the ball back four times.

Solskjaer  who described Pogba's display as that of an "all-round midfielder," also urged the Frenchman to show his qualities as a leader.

"It is great to see him show his qualities and the contribution he made was big in us getting a penalty.

"He has had horrific, injury-hit season and he is desperate to make up for lost time. Paul has always wanted to play. He loves football.

"It has been great having him back training with us. On and off the pitch, he is such an enthusiastic and passionate boy. Everyone can see the quality he can provide.

"Paul always has a point to prove to himself and to us. He expects a lot from himself and wants to be the best.

He trains hard and loves football."

Solksjaer also gave his thoughts on Pogba's partnership with January signing Bruno Fernandez who moved from Sporting Lisbon:

"It is a partnership that we want to build on. They have trained together now they have had half an hour on the pitch together.

"We want the best players on the pitch, of course, and want to find a balance in the team."
