Once upon a time! When the Prince of Jukun kingdom missed his way while hunting, and ran into the Igala kingdom. He was there for some months and when he made known his intention to go back to his kingdom to the Attah of Igala, Attah informed Igala people through his servants that the Prince of Jukun kingdom wants to return to his kingdom.
On that note, Attah told his people that since the Prince has been with them for months, it would be courtesy on their side to appreciate his staying with them by giving him whatever gift anyone can provide. In line with the king's instruction, the elders of Igala kingdom gathered enough foodstuffs for him and escorted him down to his kingdom to show their appreciation over his short staying with them. So after a few days that the Prince returned to his kingdom, the elders and the king of Jukun kingdom had a meeting over his return and sojourn to Igala kingdom. Presumptuously, they concluded that if the Igala people would give such quantities of food to their Prince as a form of appreciation, in respect of his short sojourn in their kingdom, it means their son (Prince) has farmed more than this in Igala kingdom.
Therefore, they demanded that Igala people should give them the remaining foodstuffs belonging to their son (Prince).

Having the knowledge of this antics by his people, the Prince of Jukun told his father to suspend that move that Igala people are good and it was out of their goodness that they decided to give him the foodstuffs to appreciate his staying in their kingdom and not that he went to farm for them.
He warned the king (his father) over this regrettable action, but the king was adamant on this, refused to listen to his son, and thereby sent message to the Attah of Igala, that he should return his son's remaining farm produce. On hearing this, the Attah of Igala got provoked and said that because his kingdom showed cares to the Prince, the king of Jukun is demanding for more foodstuffs? Out of anger, the Attah then asked the elders of Igala kingdom to fill their calabashes with faeces and forward it as presents to the king of Jukun kingdom as a respond to his selfish demand.
Therefore, the elders of Igala kingdom set on a journey in the night to present the rubbish to the king of Jukun kingdom. The following morning, the king of Jukun was happy and eager to know the content of the presents, he commanded his servants to bring what Igala people brought over the night for them to share. The moment they brought the calabashes and discovered that all were full of faeces, the king of Jukun perceived it as an insult to his kingdom and immediately passed message across to the Attah of Igala, informing him to prepare for war over the insult on his kingdom.
He threatened to defeat him in war, collapsed Igala kingdom into his and turn Igala people as slaves.

Then Attah of Igala kingdom was scared of losing his kingdom to Jukun kingdom, he consulted the gods of Igala kingdom and human sacrifices were needed, the choice was the Princess of the land. Then the Attah was left with no other alternative than to inform Princess Oma Odoko (his daughter) who was later used for the sacrifice as demanded by the gods of Igala kingdom. She was burned alive and her ashes was used to prepare a war charm at a river called Inachalo.
Inachalo is the river through which the people of Ojukun kingdom were to cross before they would fight against Igala kingdom. Hence, on the day of the battle, when the warriors of the Jukun kingdom reached the riverside of Inachalo, they were tired and hungry. Due to the exhaustion, they had to drink the water of the river and ate the fishes as well for them to have strength to continue the journey. However, after they were satisfied, unfortunately, some of the warriors started dying and suddenly the river turned to blood because of the charm previously made by the Igala people on the river.
The remaining warriors of Jukun that did not drink the water nor ate the fishes of the river returned with the sad news of the calamities that befell their fellow warriors to the king. The king thinking that another terrible thing may befall his kingdom, surrendered by releasing all his captives back to the Igala kingdom.
Ever since then no one could drink the water nor eat the fishes from Inachalo River until date. It happens that no matter how long the fishes from the river were cooked, they would remain fresh and never done because of the great sacrifice and charm that was made on this river by the Igala kingdom.
Moreover, this was how Igala kingdom was completely liberated from being destroyed and dominated by the Jukun kingdom.
