37-year-old Nigerian man reveals how he became full professor at 32

A 37-year-old Nigerian professor, Damilola Olawuyi, has revealed how he bagged a full professorship at the age of 32.

In an interview with Legit.ng's regional reporter, Adeoye Adewunmi, Professor Damilola, who also doubles as the youngest Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN, Academic Section), Olawuyi ascribed his successes and academic achievements to the mentorship of a veteran lawyer Aare Afe Babalola who reached out to him having heard of his academic stint both at the university and law school.

COVID-19: Presidency Reveals When President Buhari Will Come Out Of Isolation

The presidency has disclosed that President MuhammaduBuhari who recently returned from the United Kingdom would end his mandatory isolation on Wednesday, August 18.

According to The Sun, the disclosure was made known by the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu.

In another news, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has cleared the air on President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, August 12, in London.

Adesina hinted that the visit was not a show of support for the former Lagos state governor ahead of the 2023 presidential election, The Punch reported.

COVID-19: FG rules out imposing another lockdown

Meanwhile, the federal government has said it was not considering a lockdown despite the rising cases of COVID-19 infections across the country.

Channels TV reported that the minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said this on Thursday, August 12, at the weekly ministerial briefing held at the State House in Abuja.

The minister said the number of cases was not threatening enough for a lockdown to be considered.

Southeast Governor Finally Reveals The Identity Of Unknown Gunmen

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has said the culprits masking as unknown gunmen to carry out killings in the zone are residents of the southeast region.

The Cable reported that Umahi made the statement on Monday, August 16, in Abakaliki.

The governor also stated that people who are suffering the attacks from the so-called unknown gunmen are also residents of the southeast region.

Umahi said:

“There is nothing like unknown gunmen as those killing and the ones being killed are citizens of the zone.”

According to Premium Times, the governor also condemned the attacks on security officials posted to the southeast region.

He said security men who make sacrifices should not be subjected to such treatment.

Ebonyi governor orders sack of workers who obeyed IPOB’s sit-at-home order

Meanwhile, Governor Umahi has ordered the immediate dismissal of civil servants who were absent from work on Monday, August 16 due to the sit-at-home directive of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

He also threatened that any shop or store locked will also lose the right of occupancy of such a store.

Umahi said IPOB had already suspended the order and wondered why people were still staying at home.

Gunmen attack oil workers in Imo state

In another news, gunmen have killed some workers of Lee Engineering Company in Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo state.

According to The Punch, four of the workers died on the spot while others sustained varying degree of injuries.

The oil workers were on transit to their oil plant in the Assa community when the hoodlums opened fire on them.

The insecurity in the southeast region has deteriorated in recent times.
