A Labour Party aspirant for the Anambra South Senatorial District, Donald Amamgbo, has said his aspiration is anchored on his desire of providing quality representation and attracting meaningful projects that would better the lots of his people. Amamgbo, a respected legal practitioner and an oil and gas executive, while addressing journalists in Awka, on Monda,y explained that his passion for grassroots development, attributes would be brought to bear if elected into the upper chamber of the National Assembly. He stated that over the years, he has served in various capacities of human endeavour, where he has gained a deep understanding of legal and business landscapes, handling high-profile commercial and civil litigation cases with a commitment to justice. On his mission in the Senate, Amamgbo, who is popularly known as the “Okosisi Ihiala”, disclosed that he would advocate for increased funding for infrastructure development, maintenance and improved access to quality education and healthcare services in Anambra South. He said, “My legislative agenda is all about listening to the concerns of constituents and representing their interest in the National Assembly, while collaborating with stakeholders to drive development and growth in Anambra South to ensure transparency, accountability and promoting the principles of democracy in Nigeria. “My senatorial bid is built on a promise to deliver effective representation and champion the interests of Anambra South senatorial district. My vision is centred on key legislative priorities for economic empowerment, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, security and peace in Anambra South as well as the entire state. “My approach to leadership is anchored in practical solutions and a people-first mentality. I will prioritize development, accountability, and compassion, offering a fresh perspective on service delivery. With my extensive experience in law, business, and humanitarian work, I am a force for positive change.” He disclosed further that over the years, he has made lasting contributions to his hometown in Ihiala, such as cthe onstruction of over 10 kilometres of roads, offering scholarships to underprivileged children, and supporting youth empowerment programs. “I have also drilled boreholes to provide clean water in remote areas and extended welfare support to widows and the elderly. Serving my community is not just an obligation; it’s my passion. I believe that when we uplift others, we create a better future for everyone,” he added.

The Nigerian Navy says the troops of Operation Delta Sanity and its units have apprehended six suspected crude oil thieves in a series of simultaneous operations conducted from April 20 to April 22. This is contained in a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, on Thursday in Abuja. Adams-Aliu said the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH had on Sunday, apprehended four suspected pipeline vandals around Renaissance Africa Energy Coy Pipeline at River-Kolo Creek in Bayelsa. He said the Forward Operating Base ESCRAVOS, on Monday, discovered and deactivated two illegal refinery sites in Oteghele, Obodo Omadino Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta. According to him, the site contained two refining ovens and 10 dugout pits laden with large amounts of stolen crude oil. He added that the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH also intercepted and impounded two vehicles laden with several sacks of illegally refined products in Olodo Community, Bayelsa. “On Tuesday, Naval Outpost ONITSHA apprehended suspects with a locally made rifle and 10 machetes. “The suspects were in the process of attacking the SEEPCO oil facility in the Oguikpele Community, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra. “Investigation revealed that these suspects were allegedly involved in the attack and killing of three Soldiers on June 11, 2024. “On Tuesday, Nigerian Navy Ship DELTA discovered and deactivated two illegal refinery sites in Bernnet Island and Obodo Omadino Community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta. “The site had nine dugout pits, several sacks, and drums laden with large amounts of illegally refined AGO and stolen Crude Oil,” he said. Adams-Aliu said the 3-day coordinated anti-crude oil theft operations underscored the Navy’s resolve to rid the maritime domain of thieves and other nefarious elements. He said the resolve was in line with the directive of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla. (NAN)
