WATER SCARCITY HITS ABUJA
~1.4 mins read
Residents of Kubwa, Giri, Zuba and Durumi areas in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, are currently having trouble getting water supply and are being forced to make do with dirty water sources.

SaharaReporters observed that while a few residents crowd around wells in the affected communities, many others resort to streams, leading to commotion and discomfort in the affected areas.

Residents stated that Kubwa, which had been in the league of places enjoying uninterrupted water supply from the FCT Water Board, is also sharing in the scarcity due to lack of supply from the authorities.

People are seen crowding around few water boreholes and wells in the areas as the result of the non-availability of water from the board.

Children and women leave their houses with several buckets and containers and are observed in long queues waiting to fetch from a well or from a running borehole tap.

SaharaReporters learnt that water vendors, otherwise known as Mai ruwa, are also exploiting the opportunity, with the 10 jerrican wheel truck, selling as higher as N2, 000, at some satellite areas of the town. The truck was between N300 and N400 initially.

A source from the FCT water board, linked the water interruption to an emergency maintenance work, said to be ongoing at the Usuma Dam water treatment plant, which serves as the FCT's water supply source.

“This water scarcity situation is crippling and agonising. What is the FCT minister, Muhammed Bello doing about it? The government should provide palliatives like water trucks to the affected areas, pending when the maintenance would be over,” a resident lamented.

“The same situation is in Giri and up to Lugbe areas. We don’t have water. People cannot live freely in their houses. The government should beware of outbreaks as a result of water scarcity and the negligence of the FCT authorities,” another resident of Giri explained.

10 Amazing Tricks For Answering Unwanted Question
~3.7 mins read
    1. Enlist the help of a friend.
Sometimes, you just know someone is going to ask you an unwanted question. For instance, maybe you're going to a family dinner with your grandfather, who always has to inquire about your love life. If you can anticipate that nosy question in advance, ask another family member to charmingly intercept it, suggests Katherine Blaisdell, public speaking coach and founder of Divine Communications . A sibling could easily step in and say something like, "Oh Grandpa, don't make her answer that!"

2. Prepare a canned answer in advance.
If you're going into a planned meeting, such as a job interview or a performance review, you can prepare answers to any unwanted questions you know are headed your way. Blaisdell calls this "visualizing your free throws" so you can reserve energy for the truly surprising questions.
"Let's say you're going into an interview and [you know they will] ask about your managerial experience and you don't have much," she says. "You can use their question as the topic of your answer or just a pivot point. Say, 'I'm so glad you asked! One of the reasons I'm looking for new opportunities is that I anticipate much growth opportunity for managing teams, and that's work I really enjoy and do well." They key is planning your segue in advance. And for more perfect job interview responses, check out this guide on How to Ace Every Common Job Interview Question.

3. Use a "bridge" response to change the subject.
One great way to avoid answering a personal question is to use a bridge response. "When you bridge you move a question away from a point of vulnerability or awkwardness and toward an area that is likely to provide a positive outcome for you," says Trish McDermott, a public relations expert and co-founder of Panic Media Training .
For example, rather than answering a personal question about your religion, change the subject to a celebrity who recently underwent a public religious conversion. Or, if you really don’t care to discuss your views on healthcare with Aunt Margaret, talk about a headline-grabbing (and non-controversial) news story that’s tangentially related.
According to McDermott, your classic bridge phrases are going to be "I don't know about that, but here's something interesting…" and "I can't tell you that for sure, but here's something I do know…"

4. Restate—and reframe—the question.
McDermott categorizes this strategy as bridging too. Here are your key phrases: "I think what you're really trying to ask me is…" and "I think what you're really trying to get at is…." For example, if Aunt Margaret asks when you're going to finally get promoted, you can respond with something like, "I think what you're really trying to ask me is how I'm enjoying this exciting time in my career," and go on from there.

5. Excuse yourself from an uncomfortable conversation.
If you're in a group conversation at a party and the chit-chat starts veering into territory you'd rather not discuss, make an excuse to leave. Telling everyone you've got to use the restroom is a lot easier than using some other social jiu-jitsu technique to dodge an unwanted line of questioning.

6. Be straightforward about your discomfort.
No matter who's asking what, remember this: You have every right to respond to an awkward question by telling the person they've made you uncomfortable. "Be direct and then pivot," says Blaisdell. It's always within your rights to respond to an unwanted question with something like, "It's kind of emotionally fraught, so I'd rather not talk about it. But I'd love to hear about your new [project/job/baby/house]!" See, that wasn't so hard!

7. Deflect with a joke.
"Humor is the best deflection tip I can offer," says public relations specialist Sherry Gavanditti . For example, an intrusive “How much money do you make?” can be waved off with a simple joke, like, “Not enough!” Most people will realize they've overstepped and change the subject.

8. Answer ambiguously.
The easiest way to dodge an unwanted question is to leave some wriggle room in your answer. If someone asks why you haven’t quit your miserable job yet to look for a new one, a simple “Who knows? I've still gotta pay the bills in the meantime!” will do. To, “When are you going to graduate?” respond with a vague, “I’m not sure, I guess we’ll see!”

9. Offer advice instead of an answer.
For example, if someone asks about your recent weight loss and you don't want to get into the gritty details, simply share a tip about your favorite trainer in town and offer to put the person in touch with them. Or, rather than answering an invasive question about your recent breakup, tell the group about a book recommendation that helped you heal after the separation.

10. Shame the asker (just a little).
If a question is truly nosy, you can subtly shame the asker for being overly curious. Do it in a joking way to keep things light. Something like, “Wow, you’re quite the curious one, aren’t you?” or “Whoa, I think that's a bit heavy for a party” will shut things down pretty quickly.

10 Most Powerful Animal Bite On Planet Earth.

   1. Saltwater Crocodile
Crocodile Bite Force: 3,700 PSI
Dr. Gregory Erickson, professor of anatomy and paleobiology at Florida State University and curator of the school’s Biological Science Museum, conducted a 10-year study to scientifically measure jaw strength in all 23 crocodile species. Erickson and his team placed a specially designed bite force transducer—which he likens to “an expensive bathroom scale” wrapped in “protective layers of bullhide”—between the jaws of multiple crocodile specimens. The highest reading, 3,700 PSI, was registered by a 17-foot saltwater croc. “It’s the strongest bite force ever recorded,” Erickson says, “beating a 2,980-PSI value for a 13-foot wild American alligator.”
Notably, the team’s data allows projections of bite-force strength in now-extinct crocodiles found in the fossil record, including 40-footers estimated to have been capable of generating 23,000 pounds of force. That surpasses estimates for Tyrannosaurus rex, which Erickson estimated, in a 2017 study, probably had a bite force around 8,000 PSI.
“If you can bench press a pickup truck, you can escape a croc’s jaws,” Erickson says. Otherwise, “It is a one-way street between the teeth and the stomach of a large croc.”

 2. Great White Shark
Great White Shark Bite Force: 4,000 PSI
In 2008, a team of Australian scientists led by Steve Wroe used sophisticated computer modeling based on multiple x-ray images of shark skulls to estimate that a 21-foot great white shark can produce nearly 4,000 PSI of bite force. Because shark bite force is highly dependent on size; the much more common 11- to 15-foot great whites would pack considerably less punch than a similarly sized croc. And Wroe’s projections, unlike Erickson’s findings, have not been directly measured in field tests. Volunteers, anyone?

 3. Hippopotamus
Hippopotamus Bite Force: 1,800 PSI
With tusks that can grow two feet long, a mouth that opens 180 degrees, and a bite that can crush a whole watermelon like a grape, hippos likely have the strongest jaws of any herbivore on the planet. Territorial and potentially aggressive, hippos are particularly hostile to crocodiles and are said to be capable of biting a 10-foot croc in half. The bite force of females has been measured at 1,800 PSI; males have reportedly proven too aggressive to test.

 4. Jaguar
Jaguar Bite Force: 1,500 PSI
The largest cat in the Americas is also the strongest biter of any wild feline. Unlike all other cats, which mostly go for the throat to dispatch their prey, the jaguar kills by biting its victim’s skull and is capable of puncturing a turtle’s shell with its teeth.

 5. Gorilla
Gorilla Bite Force: 1,300 PSI
It not so much the teeth, but the massive neck and jaw muscles that give the gorilla one of the strongest bite forces in the primate kingdom. They’re herbivores, yes, but their diet includes much tougher stuff than bananas: The gorilla’s strong molars allow them chew heavy shoots, bark, nuts, tubers, and other fibrous foods. Long, sharp canines seen in mature males are mostly for display.

 6. Polar Bear
Polar Bear Bite Force: 1,200 PSI
Unlike most bears, whose teeth are designed to handle both flora and fauna, polar bears are exclusively meat-eaters—hypercarnivore is the term. As a result, their bite is well adapted to dealing with the kind of prey they encounter in the Arctic: thick-skinned, heavily-feathered, or, occasionally, North Face-clad. Polar bears are said to be the only mammal that actively hunts humans.

7. Spotted Hyena
Spotted Hyena Bite Force: 1,100 PSI
Hyenas are skilled hunters that often make their own kills, but their tremendous jaw strength also allows these African mammals to profitably scavenge carcasses other predators leave behind. Dual-purpose teeth allow them to shear flesh and crush bone, and large jaw muscles combined with a unique arched structure that protects the skull against the forces generated by their own bite makes hyenas particularly efficient scavengers: When a hyena pack descends on a kill, there are rarely any leftovers.

8. Bengal Tiger
Bengal Tiger Bite Force: 1,050 PSI
Boasting the longest canine teeth (2.5 to 3 inches) of all cats, Bengal tigers present a fearsome display; they also have the bite force to back it up, delivering more than a thousand pounds-per-square-inch of pressure—almost twice as much bite force as the king of the jungle.

9. Grizzly Bear
Grizzly Bear Bite Force: 975 PSI
Mythologized for their purported ability to decapitate a moose with a single swipe of their massive paws, grizzlies also have one of the more fearsome sets of choppers in the wild. Doctors in bear country have developed antibiotic cocktails to fight the deep-tissue bacterial infections that survivors of grizzly bites often face. Their bite force is said to be strong enough to crush a bowling ball.

10. Lion
Lion Bite Force: 650 PSI
Lions have a bite force of only 650 PSI, which is not much stronger than the hardest-biting domestic dog, the English mastiff (550 PSI). But lions are social creatures that hunt in groups and consume their kill where it falls, which may lessen the need for individual jaw strength, some researchers have hypothesized. By comparison, humans exert a bite force of around 160 PSI when we clamp down—good enough to power through a tough steak sandwich, but nowhere near adequate for bringing a wildebeest to bay.

Torture To Death Over Chicken: Court Orders Police To Pay N210m Compensation
~1.6 mins read
A Federal High Court sitting in Bauchi has awarded the sum of N210 million against the Nigeria Police as compensation for the torture which led to the death of two people and injury to the third person for allegations of theft of chickens.
Abdulwahab Bello, Ibrahim Babangida and Ibrahim Samaila, were allegedly beaten by the Divisional Police Officer of the Township Division, SP Baba Ali, on July 21, 2020, over alleged theft of chickens belonging to a retired police officer.
The torture led to the death of Samaila and Babangida while Bello survived with life-threatening injuries. He (Bello) then slammed three separate suits demanding N150 million each for himself and his two friends against the police as damages and compensation.
Reward for honesty! Police honour two officers who rejected N1million bribe
Joined in the three separate suits, instituted at the Federal High Court, Bauchi, on October 22, 2020, are the DPO superintendent of Police Baba Ali who is the 1st defendant; Sergeant Jibril Mohammed, 2nd defendant; Inspector General of Police, 3rd defendant; Commissioner of Police Bauchi State, 4th defendant and the Police Service Commission as 5th defendant.

In another report, the Kano state police command has honoured two officers, Garba Rabo and Jamilu Buhari who rejected one million Naira offered them as a bribe.
The state commissioner of police, Sama’ila Dikko, called on other officers to emulate their example.
Legit.ng gathered that in a statement by the police spokesperson in Kano , Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Friday, March 26, said the honest officers were serving on the task force of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) in the state when they were offered the bribe.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has said that Nigerians need a police force they can trust at a time when insecurity is on the increase.
Kidnappers invade Nigerian hospital, abduct patients and nurse
Gbajabiamila on Thursday, March 25, noted that in light of such a crying need, the government will begin a weeding process in the force so as to get rid of what he described as bad eggs, The Nation reports.
He made this known while convening a public hearing on a bill to repeal and re-enact the Police Service Commission (PSC) bill.
