~1.9 mins read
Lionel Messi was in the news for the wrong reasons over the weekend after bagging his first career red card in Barcelona's 3-2 defeat to Athletic Bilbao in their Spanish Super Cup final.

The defeat also stopped the 33-year-old Argentine from lifting his first silverware since the 2018-19 campaign.

Messi was handed a marching order in the final moments of the game after swinging his right arm and knocked Asier Villalibre to the ground.

However, the 2014 FIFA World Cup finalist performed one last task before walking off the pitch as he was spotted checking the pulse of the 23-year-old attacker while laying on the floor.

According to Give Me Sport, fans believe Messi checking the vital signs of his opponent to see if he was still breathing was sarcastic.

After the match, the victim believed Messi had shown “clear aggression” towards him after speaking reporters, per Rik Sharma, after the match.

"It seemed to me a clear aggression from Messi. I put my body in the way, he got mad and he hit me in the face with his hand."
However, Messi’s manager, Ronald Koeman, defended his star man. The Dutchman told reporters:

"I can understand what Messi did. I don't know how many times they fouled him, and it's normal to react when they keep trying to foul you as a player who is looking to dribble with the ball, but I need to see it again properly."
Lionel Messi lands in more trouble after receiving first red card in Barcelona (see details)

The 33-year-old failed to lift his first title in 2021, he was also off for the first time after getting violent with Asier Villalibre in the game.

While that was the fourth red of his professional career. Antoine Griezmann scored two goals but they ended up mere consolations after Inaki Williams' 94th-minute strike propelled his side to victory in the extra minutes.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Said He Would Continue To Remain In PDP
~1.3 mins read
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has declared that he and other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not leave for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as being speculated.

The Guardian reports that the governor insisted that he would hand over power to a PDP governor in 2023, adding that the party offers what others don't have.

Legit.ng gathered that he told stakeholders not to panic over the rumour, saying that two chieftains of the party did so because he refused to promise them automatic tickets for 2023.

Ikpeazu, who made this known on Monday, January 18, during the first PDP stakeholders’ meeting of the year in Umuahia, asserted that PDP remained the party of choice in the state.

He urged the party's members to ensure that all hands must be on deck to consolidate on its gains and strength.

He also advised party members not to allow their personal ambitions to override the party’s interest, as the general elections were barely two years away.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the gale of defection rocking the southeast chapter of the PDP could hit the Abia state as some of the party's chieftains romanced leaders of the APC in the zone.

It was reported that the Abia state commissioner for trade and investment, Cosmos Ndukwe, said he did not owe the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, and the PDP any explanation for hosting Senator Kalu in his home.

Timo Werner And Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard In Action
~1.7 mins read
Frank Lampard who is the handler of Premier League side Chelsea has confirmed his readiness to help German striker Timo Werner find his rhythm this season for the Blues in all competitions.

The 24-year-old star is one of the biggest signings for Chelsea before the start of the ongoing Premier League season, but he has not been impressive since he got to Stamford Bridge.

In his last ten Premier League games for Chelsea, Timo Werner has not been able to score any goal for Chelsea which has brought comparison between him and former striker Torres.

Torres also had serious troubled time at Chelsea when he got to Stamford Bridge even though the Spaniard won the Champions League title.

According to the report on UK Sun, Frank Lampard has made it clear that Timo Werner should not be compared with Torres stressing that the German will soon start netting for Chelsea.

"All players will experience it in their career. All eyes are on and it becomes magnified. I need to work with him on it.
"I'm not comparing him to anybody. Everybody is different, Torres had difficult times here but won the Champions League.
"All we need to do is create the best environment to get the best out of Timo.
"You must repeat, keep working and he needs to keep his head down and focus, I need to give him positivity."

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how after spending 10 years at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea getting only one League game for the Blues, Brazilian striker Lucas Piazon has joined Braga on a permanent deal.

Trouble for Koeman as Arsenal eye big move for top Barcelona superstar
The Blues actually signed Lucas Paizon from Sao Paulo in 2011, but he was only eligible for a work permit to start in January 2012.

Piazon technically leaves as Chelsea's longest-serving player though he made just three senior appearances for the Blues which all came nine years ago.

Roberto Di Matteo was n charge of the Blues then when Lucas Piazo got his only Premier League game for Chelsea.

Due to lack of active playing time at Chelsea, Lucas Piazo had spells at Malaga, Vitesse Arnhem, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading, Fulham, Chievo and Rio Ave.

Lampard Finally Reveals Why Chelsea Players Lack Quality Like Hazard.
~1.8 mins read
Frank Lampard believes Chelsea are struggling to hit top form because they lack top quality players like Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and the likes.

The Blues' title chances have been shaky due to their poor run of result in recent matches and are now eight points off the top Premier League.

Chelsea spent over £200million on players but are languishing on seventh and Lampard has given his reason for the team's dip in form.

Tension at Stamford Bridge as 1 thing could happen to Chelsea manager Frank Lampard if Blues lose to Leicester
“With our team it’s potential, so for us there may be tough moments going forwards.
“We haven’t got Hazard contributing 50 per cent of goals or assists. We haven’t got Costa scoring 30 goals. We are developing those players and I believe in them strongly.
“When people were touting us as title challengers, we do have a squad when you look at it in terms of its composition, but it’s very young particularly in the forward areas.
“We don’t have the history of players in those areas that this club had before — goal machines or assist machines that win you games.”
Chelsea will be visitors to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and a win would move them to sixth above Everton who still have a game at hand.

On the other hand, the Foxes are looking to go temporarily on top of the league pending when Liverpool and Man United play their matches.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Timo Werner missed a sitter and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has advised the German striker to keep working on the training pitch to get those kinds of chances converted.

The 24-year-old has not scored for Chelsea in the last 12 matches until the FA Cup win over League Two side Morecambe.

The Germany international was brought on in the second half in the west London derby against Fulham but failed to find the back of the net.
