Tortoise And The Lizard
~3.6 mins read
Tortoise had used up all his salt, and he found his meals so tasteless without it that he decided to call on his brother and ask him if he had any to spare.
His brother had plenty. "How will you get it back to your home?" he asked Tortoise.
"If you will wrap the salt in a piece of bark cloth, and tie it up with string, then I can put the string over my shoulder and drag the parcel along the ground behind me," said Tortoise.
"A splendid idea!" exclaimed his brother, and between them they made a tidy package of the salt.
Then Tortoise set off for his long, slow journey home, with the bundle going bump, bump, bump, along the ground behind him.
Suddenly he was pulled up short, and turning round, he saw that a large lizard had jumped on to the parcel of salt and was sitting there, staring at him.
"Get off my salt!" exclaimed Tortoise. "How do you expect me to drag it home with you on top of it?"
"It's not your salt!' replied the lizard. "I was just walking along the path when I found this bundle lying there, so I took possession of it and now it belongs to me."
"What rubbish you talk!" said Tortoise. "You know well it is mine, for I am holding the string that ties it.
" But the lizard still insisted that he had found the parcel lying in the road, and he refused to get off, unless Tortoise went with him to the elders, to have their case tried in court.
Poor Tortoise had to agree, and together they went before the old men at the court.
First Tortoise put his case, explaining that as his arms and legs were so short he always had to carry bundles by dragging them along behind him.
Then the lizard put his side of the matter, saying that he had found the bundle lying in the road. '"Surely anything that is picked up on the road belongs to the one who picks it up?" cried the lizard.
The old men discussed the matter seriously for some time; but many of them were related to the lizard and thought that they might perhaps get a share of the salt, so eventually they decreed that the bundle should be cut into two, each animal taking half.
Tortoise was disappointed, because he knew it really was his salt, but he sighed with resignation and let them divide the parcel.
The lizard immediately seized the half that was covered with the biggest piece of cloth, leaving poor Tortoise with most of his salt escaping from his half of the parcel, and spilling out on to the ground.
In vain did Tortoise try to gather his salt together. His hands were too small and there was too little cloth to wrap round it properly.
Finally he departed for home, with only a fraction of his share, wrapped up in leaves and what remained of the bark cloth, while the elders scraped up all that had been spilled, dirty though it was, and took it back to their wives.
Tortoise's wife was very disappointed when she saw how little salt he had brought with him, and when he told her the whole story she was most indignant at the way he had been treated. The long, slow journey had tired him, and he had to rest for several days.
But although Tortoise was so slow, he was very cunning and eventually thought up a plan to get even with the lizard.
So, after a few days of rest, and saying good-bye to his wife, he plodded along the road towards the lizard's home with a gleam in his eye, and after some time he caught sight of the lizard, who was enjoying a solitary meal of flying ants.
Slowly and silently Tortoise came upon him from behind and put his hands on the middle of the lizard's body. "See what I've found!" called Tortoise loudly.
"What are you doing?" asked the perplexed lizard. "I was just walking along the path when I found something lying there," explained Tortoise. "So I picked it up and now it belongs to me, just as you picked up my salt the other day."
When the lizard continued to wriggle and demanded that Tortoise set him free, Tortoise insisted that they go to the court and get the elders to judge.
The old men listened attentively to both sides of the story, and then one said: "If we are to be perfectly fair, we must give the same judgment that we gave concerning the salt."
"Yes," said the others, nodding their white heads, "and we had the bag of salt cut in two.
Therefore we must cut the lizard in two, and Tortoise shall have half."
"That is fair," replied Tortoise, and before the lizard could escape, he seized a knife from an elder's belt and sliced him in half, and that was the end of the greedy lizard.

Most Difficult Courses In Nigerian Universities
~2.7 mins read
No course is easy to study but there are some courses that are more difficult than the others.

Most of these hard courses are noticeably present in the science departments and poses a real challenge to those who want to study them as they require a great deal of hard work, determination and focus to get good grades from them.

All aspiring University students are to take serious notes of these courses and be diligent at it if they find themselves in any of the departments.

Below are the 13 most difficult courses in Nigerian universities.

1. Aeronautical Engineering
The study, design and manufacturing of flight-capable machines. It is considered one of the toughest courses to study in a Nigerian university. Very few offer it.

2. Pharmacy
It is a health profession that links health sciences with pharmaceutical sciences and aims to ensure the safe, effective, and affordable use of drugs.
It is also considered a very dangerous course in Nigerian universities.

3. Actuarial Science
It is a course that applies mathematical and statistical methods to assess risk in insurance, finance and other industries and professions.
It is considered very tricky and should be avoided by people who have an aversion for numbers.

4. Geology
This is the study of the Earth, the materials of which it is made, the structure of those materials, and the processes acting upon them.
It is a popular, albeit very dangerous course to study in Nigeria.

5. Physics
This is the natural science that studies matter, its motion and behaviour through space and time, and the related entities of energy and force.
It is also considered one of the toughest courses to study, especially since it aims to understand how the universe behaves.

6. Philosophy
It is the study of general and fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language.
Nigerian philosophy lecturers are very popular for being sadists.

7. Chinese
This is the study of the Chinese Language; it is an equally tough course to pick, and even very fewer schools offer it in Nigeria.

8. Russian
The Russian language is already considered one of the toughest languages to learn in the world.
Imagine it being taught in a Nigerian classroom? I’m sure you get the gist.

9. Petroleum and Gas Engineering
It is concerned with the activities related to the production of hydrocarbons, which can be either crude oil or natural gas.
In many Nigerian schools, this course is often studied by chronic bookworms.

10. Chemical Engineering
It uses the principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, and economics to efficiently use, produce, design, transport and transform energy and materials.
If you’re not an “efiko”, please don’t bother.

11. Geo-Physics
It is concerned with the physical processes and physical properties of the Earth and its surrounding space environment.
Only people with space dreams can try this in a Nigerian school.

12. Bio-Chemistry
This is the study of chemical processes within and relating to living organisms.
You will always see students of this department with big bags on campuses looking like refugees.

13. Architecture
This is the process and product of planning, designing, & constructing buildings or any other structure.
While this course is very lucrative, be prepared to spend six years in school.

The End!!!
Now it’s your choice to choose among the above-listed courses that you want to study in the University.

Choose wisely!

Manchester United Most Valuable Brand In Premier League – $1.46B
~2.1 mins read
COVID-19 had a tremendous impact on the sports world with many leagues needing to suspend and then restart their leagues in difficult situations. The football world was not immune to this as many clubs saw their revenue streams and brand value affected.
Despite the pandemic, according to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, Manchester United’s brand value reached up to $1.46B in 2020 – the most in the English Premier League (EPL).

Manchester United Most Valuable Brand Out of ‘Top 6’ – $1.46B, Arsenal lowest at $796M

The EPL is widely considered as the most competitive league out of Europe’s football leagues. With more money coming into football, the competition has intensified even more with the traditional ‘Big 4’ replaced with what is now considered the more appropriate ‘Top 6.’

Although performances on the pitch and the league table often depict a far different picture than the term suggests, many are in agreement as to which clubs the term refers to and the list of most valuable brands reflects the same ‘Top 6.’

The most valuable brand in the Premier League as Manchester United with a brand value of $1.46B beating out their arch-rivals on the pitch Liverpool which takes 2nd place on the list with a brand value of just under $1.4B.

The blue half of Manchester takes 3rd place on the list with Manchester City’s brand worth $1.245B. The remaining three spots are filled by London clubs with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal rounding out the top 6 with brand values of 1.05B, 868M, and $796M respectively.

Strong Performances on the Pitch See Liverpool Overtake City
In what was one of the most dramatic EPL seasons in history, albeit due to non-footballing reasons, Liverpool FC won their first Premier League title in 30 years ending a historic drought. The season prior the Reds also won their 6th European Championship in club history making the last couple of years one of the most successful in Liverpool’s recent history.

Liverpool’s recent success saw them increase their brand value despite the pandemic while Manchester City experienced a decline of 11% in their brand value.

Tottenham Hotspur More Valuable than North London Rivals for 1st Time

Arsenal FC meanwhile has experienced their worst run of final league positions in the last two decades and have been missing out on the lucrative Champions League positions since 2017.

Arsenal’s struggles are compounded even more considering their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have been going through what many call their “golden age,” producing highly competitive squads that regularly compete for silverware.

In 2019 Tottenham also introduced their new world-class home, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is comparable with any of the best sporting venues around the world.

With different fortunes both on and off the pitch, the tables have turned in North London for the first time as Tottenham was rated as the more valuable brand of the two football clubs, putting yet another twist in their already heated rivalry.

Top Five: Nigerian Clubs Of The Decade
~2.3 mins read
Goal profiles the best performing clubs in West Africa’s biggest football nation over the last 10 years

#5 Akwa United
At the start of the decade, the Promise Keepers were newbies in the Nigerian top flight and, as such, didn’t have things all their way, getting relegated after two seasons.

Since returning in 2011, the Uyo-based outfit have been on a steady rise, and are now NPFL title contenders having finished fourth and second in 2017 and 2018 respectively, as well as finishing top of Group A in the 2019 abridged Nigeria Professional Football League format.

There were also the Federation Cup success in 2015 and 2017, which gave them berths in the Caf Confederation Cup.

#4 Enugu Rangers
The Flying Antelopes were the dominant force in Nigeria football in the 1970s and 1980s with 13 titles to their name, including the 1977 Africa Cup Winners Cup (now Caf Confederation Cup).

They had gone on a barren trophy spell since 1984, and it looked like it would continue until the 32-year jinx was broken in 2016 thanks to the mastermind of Imama Amapakabo and a crop of talented players like Chisom Egbuchulam, Osas Okoro, Christian Madu and Obinna Nwobodo.

Rangers then added another cup success in 2018 in an electrifying final against Kano Pillars in Asaba which needed to be decided on penalties with the game levelled 3-3 at full-time.

#3 Kano Pillars
Sai Masu Gida are, without doubt, one of the star sides over the past decade, having won four league titles between 2008 and 2014, as well as a cup triumph, for the first time in 28 years, in 2019.

They have also featured in the Caf Champions League six times, more than any other Nigerian club since their debut in 2009, going all the way to the semi-finals at the first time of asking.

All of these elements have made the Groundnut Pyramid City outfit one of the most feared teams in the NPFL, with their home ground, the Sanni Abacha Stadium, regarded as one of the most demanding stadia to play in the country.

#2 MFM FC
A decade ago, the Olukoya Boys were still competing in the lower tiers of Nigerian football.

Little did many know that their time to shine was coming soon, and they made their top flight debut in 2016, not just avoiding relegation but demonstrating a scintillating and unexpected brand of football under Fidelis Ilechukwu.

In the following year, the Agege Stadium outfit finished a close second, four points behind eventual champions Plateau United, and went on to play in the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Their rise has been the stuff of dreams, and MFM’s reputation as the highest-ranked Lagos-based team in the country keeps increasing.

#1 Enyimba
Who better than the People’s Elephant to top our list!?

Their 12 titles in the first five years (inclusive of the historic back-to-back Champions League titles of 2003 and 2004) of the millennium have been supplemented by a further eight in the last decade, which includes three league (most recently 2019) and cup triumphs.

The Aba giants have shown why they set the standard for Nigerian clubs, and it will be a massive feat for any another side to match or surpass all they’ve accomplished.
