FG offers ASUU cumulative sum of N65bn to end strike
•Adjourns meeting to Friday next week
The Federal Government on Friday has made an additional sum of N15 billion to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), making it a cumulative sum of N65 billion for the revitalization of the university system and settlement of the controversial Earned Allowances.
This was disclosed after several hours of deliberations between the Federal Government team, led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and the ASUU, led by its President Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi.
However, the parley between the government and ASUU has been adjourned till Friday next week for the stakeholders to further concretize the resolutions.
As the parley between the two groups continues, ASUU has also insisted that the strike will go on until final resolution of all the issues in contention.
On the issue of highly contentious Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS), ASUU informed the meeting that it had carried out a demonstration of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), to all stakeholders and end-users on Thursday 5th November at the National Universities Commission NUC, where some stakeholders raised questions that had been addressed.
The meeting agreed that going forward, all stakeholders must be carried along in this process to ensure transparency.
On withheld salaries and non-remittance of check-off dues, they agreed that the Federal Ministry of Education and Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment should reconsider the “No work, no pay†policy of the government with a view to getting approval for the withheld salaries to be paid.
A communique issued at the end of the marathon meeting read: “It was also agreed that the mode of payment applied for the payment of those that had not been captured in the IPPIS platform between the months of February and June 2020 be adopted for the purpose of payment during this transition period.
“On the demand by ASUU for the payment of check-off dues, the Accountant General of the Federation requested that ASUU and other unions should provide his office with the necessary information and dedicated account details in writing to facilitate the deductions and remittance of the check-off dues.â€
The Federal Government had earlier offered the striking teachers N50 billion for Earned Allowances and Revitalisation Fund but had insisted that IPPIS would be the platform for payment, the position rejected by ASUU and has since remained opposed to it.

Lekki Shootings: CCTV Reveals Soldiers Arrived In Seven Trucks
The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Judicial Inquiry probing the alleged killing of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate on the night of October 20 on Saturday resumed the viewing of a CCTV footage submitted by the Lekki Concession Company, operators of the tollgate.
The footage showed that the scene was calm until about 6.43pm when people could be seen running towards the tollgate from the Oriental Hotel end.
Two minutes later, at 6.45pm, military trucks with flashing headlights arrived the scene. There were no fewer than seven of them.
At 6.53pm, about 10 minutes after the arrival of the military vehicles, the tollgate went into a blackout.
Two minutes later, at 6.55pm, one of the military vehicles drove through the tollgate to the other end where the crowd of protesters was gathered.

"God Is Great!"— Meet A 'Monkey-like' Boy Who Feeds On Grass And Has A Speaking Disorder
There is a video which is now circulating online about a young boy who many people addressed as a "Monkey" in his Community due to his physical appearance.
The young boy who was born in 1999(21 years old) finds it so difficult to interact with his people due to his speaking disorder.
He has speaking problem, and very shy of staying among humans. According to his mother who was interviewed in the video, the young boy was the sixth child the mother had given birth to.
All the 5 childers of the mother died except this last one, who looks like a monkey. In the interview, the mother narrated how she lost all her 5 children after giving birth to them, and how her husband and herself pray to God to give them a child that will stay(that will not die again) even if he/she will be abnormal.
She said she gave glory to God after she gave birth to this boy, because she knew from birth that this one(the boy) will not die. But the only problem she has with this Boy is his preferences and differences.
The mother complained that the boy finds it difficult to associate or coexist with the people surrounding him, instead he loves to run into the bush. According to the woman, she try all her possible best to make sure that the boy doesn't leave her side, because failure to keep eyes on him might resort to the boy running out of sight, losing his way home.
The mother also talk about the boy's differences. She told the interviewer that the boy finds it difficult to feed on normal food, instead, he feeds on Grass. The boy loves to eat only Banana. This also proved his Monkey-like nature.
The mother said she may prepare a food for the boy since morning only for her to return at night and see the food untouched.
Despite the fact that this young boy looks like a Monkey, he also has some attributes that qualify him as a human. The boy could run an errand for his mother.
He also has knowledge to understand what people are say to him. When his mother was interviewed, she said after giving birth to the boy the doctor in charge of the delivery told her that the boy has only the knowledge of knowing what people say, but not of coping in school or doing well academically.
The boy faces a lot of bullying from the people of his Community. Many of the children in the community try to bully him by dragging him into the bush to feed on grass.
It's indeed a bad experience the young boy in facing.

Remember, it is not all of us that must end up as billionaires. Some of you are destined to be rich, some destined to be comfortable, some destined to be millionaires, some destined to be powerful. What matters is that, whatever category you fall into, there is long life and peace of mind there!.
When you're done with self discovery, whatever you decide to do, do it without shame. Be proud of it. If you discover selling tomato or packing shit is your destiny, DO IT UNAPOLOGETICALLY! DO IT WITH PRIDE and never forget to turn deaf ears to negative people.
