~2.3 mins read

The current Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has finally said a senior Nigerian Army officer ordered the shooting of "End SARS" protesters at Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday 20th 2020.

Last Recall that the Nigerian Military had earlier stated that its men were not present at the incident that took place on the 20th of this month at Lagos toll gate during a peaceful protest by Nigeria youth.

The Nigeria military also claim that the shootout video was photos hopped by Nigeria Youth.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu speaking to CNN officials on Monday Night said footage available to him shows that the Nigerian Military ordered the shooting at peaceful protesters on Tuesday 20th of October 2020.

Sanwo-Olu also promised that after serious investigations, everyone found culpable of the act will be persecuted by the law agency.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu said, in a footage that we could see, it seems to be that men of the Nigeria military on uniform, which should be Nigerians soldiers ordered the shooting.

The Military will be available for the judicial panel to review the sinful act. They will certainly be held accountable for every life lost, we will do everything possible to make sure they are held accountable.

When the investigation report is out we will channel it to all relevant authorities in the Country to ensure that everyone found culpable is accountable for the barbaric act.

Buratai: Criminals Are Threatening Us With Travel Ban
~1.8 mins read

Soldiers killed over 10 peaceful demonstrators and left scores more injured.

After Initial denial by the Nigerian Army that its officers were not at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, where peaceful protesters were shot and killed last Tuesday, the military has come out to say its officers were only ensuring compliance with a curfew put in place by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, earlier that day.

Soldiers killed over 10 peaceful demonstrators and left scores more injured.

The Nigerian Army has now said its officers were simply ensuring compliance with the curfew put in place in Lagos State.

In a statement credited to the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Sagir Musa, said some people were trying to discredit the military and Nigerian Government.

Though Musa did not make direct reference to Tuesday killings at Lekki, he said, "Detractors both local and international have mischievously and deliberately misrepresented troops’ efforts to ensure compliance with the curfew imposed by legitimate civil authorities in Lagos and other states.

“These agitators are falsely accusing the NA of being responsible for the activities of the miscreants despite glaring evidence to the contrary.”

He also decried that the detractors are threatening to report the Nigerian Army to the International Criminal Court and also impose a visa ban on them from foreign countries.

“Criminal elements are threatening us with travel ban but we are not worried because we must remain in this country to make it better.

“The first time I travelled outside this country, I was already 50 years and a general, so I don’t mind if I live the rest of my life here,” Buratai said.

SaharaReporters had revealed that the soldiers involved in the attack on peaceful protesters were deployed from 65 Battalion, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“They came in two Hilux vans with at least eight bodies. Some were still alive when they returned. They dumped them at MRS Hospital. They told us clearly that it was Governor Sanwo-Olu that sent them,” a brother to one of the victims told SaharaReporters.

Contrary to the denial by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu, that he knew nothing about the killing and maiming of peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate area of the state by personnel of the Nigerian Army, soldiers involved in the operation have since confirmed that they were actually drafted in for the mission on the request of the governor

NIGERIAN SOLDIERS ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW, SEE WHAT HAPPEN TO THIS SOLDIER
~2.0 mins read
The 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has arrested a Corporal, Omoh F, who was caught on video flogging a woman at an Oshodi branch of the United Bank of Africa in Lagos.

The Spokesman for the 9 Brigade, Major Olaniyi Osoba, confirmed this to The PUNCH on Monday.

“I can confirm to you that he has been detained and investigations are ongoing,” Osoba said.

Earlier, a lady tweeted on Monday how she was flogged with a belt by the corporal.

Tweeting with her handle, @vels20, she alleged that the soldier had tried to jump an ATM queue but she challenged him.

She further stated that this angered Corporal Omoh who removed his belt from his waist and flogged her.

She tweeted, “I was just assaulted by an army official this morning 26/10/2020 at the ATM stand of UBA at their Oshodi branch. I am still shaking and crying as I write this because I have never felt this way in my entire life. I’m also scared writing this because he threatened me.

“So, my life is your hands Nigerians. I was in the ATM queue and this army official asked me to move so he could pass. I asked him if he was in the queue that there is a queue, he asked me to move. I moved and continued asking him if he was in the queue.

“He flared up as you will see in the video below, and before I knew what happened he brought out his belt and hit me.

“This happened at UBA branch in Oshodi and the security men were there. I literally cried my way to the office. I never insulted him. He threatened to make me bleed in my own country because I asked if he was in the queue. I want justice.”

In the video, customers are seen pleading with the soldier who refused to be pacified as he takes off his belt from his waist to flog the lady.

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told The PUNCH that she was still feeling pains.

“I am still in pain right now,” she said, adding that she was considering taking legal action against the army.

The video, which had been shared thousands of times on several social media platforms, was widely condemned by Nigerians.

Amnesty International, as well as several rights groups, have accused the Nigerian Army of human rights violations some of which include torture, subjecting civilians to corporal punishment or outright extrajudicial killings.
