I'm An Igbo Man, You Can't Deny Me My Igbo Heritage Rotimi Amaechi Warns (Video)
~1.4 mins read
The former Minister of Transportation, Honorable Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has warned that nobody can deprive him of his Igbo Identity aside from political tussle.
The former governor of Rivers State made this remark during a Channels Television ‘State of the Nation’ Programme, while responding to statement accredited to the Senate Minority leader, Enyinnanya Abaribe.

It was earlier reported that Abaribe had accused the federal government of marginalizing the South East region in the major economic development in the country, in view of series of loans by the federal authorities in executing ongoing infrastructures in the Northern region.

Reacting to the assertion, Amaechi denied leaving the South East out of Nigeria’s economic growth.

Here's what he said;

“There is no way apart from politics anybody can try to say that Igbos were excluded. And I made it clear when I appeared before the senate that it is important that, senator Abaribe does not deny me my Igbo heritage.”

Amaechi also noted that going by his Igbo heritage, he can not be in a position to support that his brothers be denied of such opportunities despite the danger of regional politics.

“As an Igbo man, I can’t sit down there, if you want to be sectional or ethnical, the right to be transported,” he added.

Acknowledging that Igbos contributes hugely to the development of the country, he said;

“By the way, politics is not about ethnic sections, it is about the economy and you can’t deny Igbos contribute tremendously to the economic growth of Nigeria. So, if you leave them out what are you trying to achieve, you don’t play politics with the economy.

“You will rather grow poverty instead of growing wealth, therefore they are not left out.”

ISIS Crowns Sani Shuwaram As New ISWAP Leader
~3.1 mins read

The Shura (Judicial) Council of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), an ISIS affiliate, has named Sani Shuwaram as new Leader (Wali) in Lake Chad.

Shuwaram replaces the commander, whom had been appointed in acting capacity since the demise of Malam Bako.

Bako succeeded Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, the late leader and son of Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf.

Shuwaram was sworn by Alkali (Judge) Bukar Arge in Kurnawa, a remote camp in Lake Chad, the de-facto headquarters of ISWAP in Abadam Local Government Area in Borno.

His installation was witnessed by an ISIS delegation. Shuwaram becomes the fifth officially recognised head of the West Africa unit

Mamman Nur, Abba-Gana, Abu-Dawud, a.k.a. Aba Ibrahim, Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, immediate past leader killed by the military, held the position at different times.

Shuwaram will control the group in Sambisa, Timbuktu, Tumbumma and others under the supervision of ISIS Leader, the Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi.

A military source told PRNigeria that visiting ISIS envoys also discussed internal rivalries, discriminatory action and financial challenges in ISWAP.

Others were clashes between JAS factions led by Bakoura and Bukuma as well as refusal of some Boko Haram fighters to join those that have pledged allegiance to ISWAP since Abubakar Shekau’s death.

“Apart from looking at issues of management of resources and welfare of widows and foot-soldiers, ISIS is planning to provide logistic support to ISWAP for missions in Baga, Marte and Malam Fatori”, the officer said.

Meanwhile, intelligence has uncovered the plan by ISWAP to move military uniforms purchased from Libya into Nigeria.
